I'm blue. My freshman year had been zooming by but now has come to a crawl courtesy of my schooling now performed on the app zoom. It seems the whole world is suffering from a serious case of the blues. Luckily, I have a solution. Blue cheese pasta! (I never said it was a perfect solution.) In my opinion, carbs can solve any problem, especially the blues. This recipe is my Italian mom's speciality and was passed down from her mother, my grandma. My grandma has always called this dish Noodles du Pont. (Not sure of the origin.) She found it in an odd, dusty cook book over 50 years ago. The combination of creamy blue cheese and white shell pasta hits the spot every time and will boast your mood in no time. Not to mention, it's super simple and couldn't be easier. (My mom could make this in her sleep.)
Serves:
5 people
Prep time:
1 minute (it's possible my mom is exaggerating)
Cooking time:
20 minutes
Ingridents:
- one pound of shell pasta
- eight oz crumbled blue cheese
- quarter stick of butter
- ground black pepper
That's it! :)
Equipment:
- pasta pot
- spoon
- strainer
Instructions:
- boil the shell pasta in ample salted water
- when the pasta is al dente (approximately 14-16 minutes)
- drain pasta
- while the pasta is draining in the sink, put crumbled blue cheese and butter in the still hot pot and melt
- pour pasta back in the pot and stir until evenly coated
- grind black pepper to taste
This is not a recipe for the calorie conscious. It's just a savory mood booster. Enjoy!
Stay calm and eat pasta!
